Eligibility
Recognized Bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years' duration in any discipline. Candidates appearing for a qualifying examination can also apply subject to submission of proof of requisite qualification by 7 October 2009.

The National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped, established in 1984 has so far trained more than 12,760 professionals and personnel in 11 different long term programmes recognized by RCI and affiliated to different Universities.
NIMH has organised many international and national conferences. In the continuous rehabilitation education programmes, nearly 1,02,901 rehabilitation and health professionals, personnel and government officials have participated.
It has a team of highly qualified experts and specialists of various disciplines who are engaged not only in these HRD activities but also in the research and development programmes, some of which are in collaboration with international organisations.
These objectives apart, NIMH has developed services models and contributed very significantly in the dissemination and documentation. The performance in the extension and outreach programmes is. par excellence covering large areas across the country.

The two year MDRA programme of semester mode is designed to prepare qualified and competent disability rehabilitation administrators for successfully managing the disability rehabilitation and research organisations in the country.
The disability rehabilitation, as an emerging field has now established academic and professional standards under the superintendence of Rehabilitation Council of India similar to Medical Council of India. There are more than six thousand organisations working in the field of disability rehabilitation.
A disability rehabilitation administrator is expected to deliver results as per the goals of the organisation by converging, connecting and collaborating various resources and energies.
The would include:
Organisation of rehabilitation programmes,
Management of projects environment and community management, finance & accounts management, human resource management and performance management c) organisational development, human resource development and research & development.
The programme is practicum-oriented and research driven viz. strong component of practically, field work, project research work and participatory, learning in the form of seminar presentation and conferences.
This will also include emphasis on both individual competencies and team competencies.
Eligibility For Admission:
Candidate should have a Bachelor Degree in Disability Rehabilitation field recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India and/or Medical Council of India and/or Paramedical Professional relating to rehabilitation (Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy / Nursing / Laboratory Technology) with a minimum of 50% marks.
Masters Degree from a Recognized University in the field of Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation Social Work, Business Management with a minimum of 50% marks.

12 (Twelve) - Candidates will be admitted in each batch. Two seats are reserved for sponsored candidates (if sponsored candidates are not available, these seats will be allocated to general category). Reservation for candidates belonging to SC, ST and for persons with physical handicap (in one lower limb only) will be provided as per Government / University guidelines.
The reservations in respect of OBC candidates will be implemented subject to approval of the concerned authorities as per rules.

d) I. Entry Qualification:
For SI. No. 1 (COPA): 12th class examination pass under 10+2 system of education or passed three years Diploma in any branch of engineering from a recognized Polytechnic
For SI. No. 2: Passed 8th class exam (Class 7th Pass where terminal examination is in class 7th)
For SI. No. 3: 10th class examination pass under 10+2 system of education with Science as one of the subjects or its equivalent.
For SI. No. 4: Passed 10th class Exam under 10+2 system of education with Science & Mathematics or its equivalent.
For SI. No. 5: Passed 10th Class Exam under 10+2 system of education with Science as one of the subjects
For SI. No. 6: Passed 10th Class Exam under 10+2 system of education with Science and Mathematics or its equivalent.
II. Selection: Selection shall be made on Merit basis.
III. Age: Candidates should ordinarily, be between 14 to 40 years/ of age as on 1st August 2008 and the maximum age limit permissible for Ex-Servicemen & War Widows is 45 years.
e) Stipend/ Scholarship: 25% of the totals number of trainees on roll or sanctioned seats whichever is less will be entitled to get stipend @ Rs.100/- p.m. on Poverty-cum-Merit basis.
4% of the total number of trainees will be awarded merit Scholarships @ Rs.125/- p.m. on the basis of the internal examination after six months.
f) Reservation: Reservations are applicable as per Govt, of India-rules for Women, SC, ST, OBC. Physically Handicapped &' Ward of Defence personnel.
g) Tuition Fees & Other Deposits (To Be Paid In Lumpsum at the Time of Admission for Entire Training Period).
The tuition fee @ of Rs.100/- per month per trainee shall be charged for SI.No. 1 &3 to 6.
Tuition fee for COPA trade will be @ Rs.200/- per month per trainee.
No Tuition Fee is charged from SC/ST & Physically handicapped trainees.
Rs.250/- (Rupees Two Hundred & Fifty) per trainee as caution money,
Gymkhana fee @ Rs.5/- per months or part there of.

4. Cost of Application Form/ Prospectus (Rs.200/-)
The candidates/ authorized persons can obtain the application form and prospectus with a written requisition enclosing a crossed Demand Draft drawn for Rs.200/- in favour of the Dean of the concerned Government Medical College and Payable at the concerned station. The Demand Draft should have been issued by anyone of the Nationalised Banks only and dated not earlier than the date of this advertisement
Postal Orders Or Money Orders Will Not Be Accepted
SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of cost of application form of Rs.200/-. They can obtain the application/prospectus with a written requisition duly enclosing an attested Xerox copy of the Community certificate issued by the appropriate Revenue authorities. The candidate should also give a declaration that he/she has not obtained the application form for the above course from any other Medical College at free of cost
Only one prospectus should be obtained which contains 2 separate application forms; one combined form for all Para Medical Certificate courses and the other for DMLT course.
Hence separate application form intended for Para Medical Certificate Courses and DMLT Course should be sent.
The King Institute of Preventive Medicine, Guindy, and Chennai-32 conducts only DMLT course with 50 seats.
