The Janatha Education Society [JES] was established in the year 1972. The Janatha Education Society founded the Vivekananda Institute of Technology (VKIT) in its Silver Jubilee Year 1997, thereby enhancing the services to the society in the field of Technical education. VKIT is affiliated to Bangalore University (vide Order No. ACA-III/A1/SNC/ENGG-5/97-98 dated 28-11-1997), approved by the AICTE, New Delhi (vide it's letter No. F-770/53/262/ET/96 dated 4-9-1997) and recognized by the Government of Karnataka, Bangalore (vide G.O. No. ED214 UBV 97 dated 12-11-1997), subsequently affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University(VTU), Belgaum.
