Symbiosis Entrance Test Overview
Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is a common written test for the admission processes of undergraduate institutes of Symbiosis International University [SIU] established as Deemed to be University” under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 vide notification No.F.9.12/2001 U.3 of the Govt. of India. Subsequently ten more Institutes of Symbiosis have been brought under the ambit of Symbiosis International University vide notification No.F.9.12/2006-U.3 (A).It is a mandatory written test for the admission process for the undergraduate programmes of these Symbiosis institutes. However, it is only the first step. Each Symbiosis institute has its independent selection process.
- SET-2009 has 5 different papers namely General, Design, Law, Engineering and
Health Sciences.
- The test will be conducted in two sessions, Morning and Afternoon.
- A Candidate may take more than one paper. However he may chose one paper
from morning session and one paper from afternoon session.
A candidate aspiring to pursue an undergraduate programme at Symbiosis needs to follow the 3 stages mentioned below:
Stage-1: SET Test
Register online at www.set-test.org
You may register for one paper in the morning viz. General or Design and one paper in the afternoon session viz. Law or Engineering or Health Science.
You need to upload a scanned photograph of yours at the time of registration.
Follow the instructions for payment of Test fee of Rs. 1400/- on this website. This includes charges for a prospectus of the undergraduate programmes at Symbiosis International University.
Candidates applying to Symbiosis Institute of Technology must register at SET even if they wish to offer their JEE or AIEEE scores. They need to pay the prospectus fee of Rs.500/-
After the closing date of Payment, print "Admit Card" directly from the website.
Bring the Admit Card and a Photo Identity to the Test Center. (Candidates shall preserve the Admit Card till the Admission process of the desired Symbiosis Institutes is over. If the Admit card is lost, no duplicate Admit Card will be issued.)
Appear for the Test
Stage-2:
Apply online to the desired SIU's constituent institutes.
The SET website allows a facility to directly apply online to an institute.
Candidates may apply also from the institute website.
To apply to an institute, a candidate must register for the relevant SET paper. For example, to apply to Symbiosis Law School, register for Law paper at SET.
Candidates applying to Symbiosis Institute of Technology must register at SET even if they wish to offer their JEE or AIEEE scores.
Candidates applying to Symbiosis Institute of Health Science must register at SET even it they wish to offer their 12th science Examination score.
Stage-3:
Attend further selection process of the chosen institutes, if called.
Each institute has its own weightages for arriving at a cutoff, depending on its focused field as mentioned in the prospectus of each constituent institute.
The institutes will announce a short list for attending further selection process.
The individual institute as per their schedules will announce Merit List & Waiting Lists.

Important:
While adequate care is taken in ensuring that there are no mistakes in reading the answer sheet by the scanning machine, there is no provision of revaluation of the answer sheet of any candidate.
The scores published by the Symbiosis Test Secretariat shall be final and shall not be subject to any appeal or revaluation.
The SET Score card will be available on the website for a period of one month from the date of declaration of results i.e. June 15, 2009.
Those candidates paying through cash or DD, should ensure that1. Axis Bank (formerly UTI Bank) Challan for cash payment, OR2. Demand Draft along with Payment Advice Form for DD payment reaches Symbiosis Test Secretariat by 23rd April 2009.Symbiosis Test Secretariat will not be held responsible for non-delivery or any delay on the part of Courier / Postal Services.

Past Academic Record
While evaluating applicants for admission into the MCA Program, due consideration is given to an applicant's past academic achievements and work experience (if any). Apart from the marks/CGPA secured, various academic achievements and honors obtained by the applicant, professional and postgraduate qualifications are also considered.
IMCAT 2009: All applicants desirous of admission into the MCA Program of ISIT are required to appear for the ISIT MCA Test (IMCAT) 2009, which will be of 3 hours duration. IMCAT format comprises multiple choice questions and tests an applicant's analytical ability, mathematical ability, vocabulary, business and computer terminology, functional grammar and reading comprehension.
IMCAT 2009 is scheduled on May 03, 2009 (Sunday) between 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM and will be conducted at 48 Test Centers all over India.
Applicants are required to complete the Application Form and send it to the Admissions Officer, through speed post or courier, at the following address:

The last date for receiving the completed application at the above address is April 20, 2009. IMCAT 2009 is scheduled on May 03, 2009 (Sunday), between 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM. The applicants are required to report at 9.00 AM at the test centers on the day of IMCAT 2009.
All applicants are advised to adhere to the last dates prescribed for the submission of the Application Form so that necessary arrangements can be made in advance by ISIT-HQ for conducting IMCAT 2009.
Online Registration
Applicants interested in registering for the IMCAT 2009, can fill up the online Registration Form available at www.isitindia.org and make payment of Rs.800 towards cost of IMCAT 2009 prospectus, using credit card (Visa/Master Card/Citibank Card) through secure internet payment gateway and the prospectus will be sent to them. Applicants registering online should attach their scanned color photograph along with online application.

Alternatively, the applicants may download the Application Form, complete it and send it to the Admissions Officer, ISIT-HQ, # 65, Nagarjuna Hills, Punjagutta, Hyderabad-500 082 along with a demand draft of Rs.800 towards cost of IMCAT 2009 Prospectus, (demand draft should be in favor of "IUCF A/c ISIT", payable at Hyderabad) and the same will be sent to them.
Documents to be sent with Application Form
The applicants applying through any one of the above modes should enclose the attested photocopies of Class X, Class XII and Graduation marksheets along with the Application Form. The students applying online have to forward the attested photocopies of marksheets to the Admissions Officer. The students in the final year of graduation may enclose the marksheets up to the current semester/year.
Test Centers
The applicants can choose any one of the test centers available for IMCAT 2009. Please note that requests for change of test center will not be entertained under any circumstances. In the event of not having enough seats at the allotted test center, applicants will be allotted the nearest alternative center, under intimation through E-mail. ISIT may add or delete a few test centers apart from the test centers (given below) depending upon the required number of applicants appearing for IMCAT 2009 from that center. The same will be intimated on website. Applicants have to select any one test center for writing IMCAT 2009 and indicate the test center and the corresponding code in the Application Form. A list of test centers with their codes is given in the following table.

All the eligible applicants who have submitted their filled in application forms for IMCAT 2009 can download online admit cards using the five digit application number and the date of birth. The applicants can download their admit cards from website from April 13, 2009 onwards. The online admit card will carry the photo, name, address, roll number of a applicant and the test date, timings and details of the test center. No hard copies of admit cards will be sent by mail.
The admit card is not transferable to any other person. Impersonation is a punishable offence under law.
IMCAT Results
Results of IMCAT 2009 will be announced on the website at 8 pm (IST) on
May 16, 2009.
The successful applicants will also be individually intimated through web/post.
The applicants who clear the IMCAT 2009 will be sent selection letters from May 18, 2009 onwards. The fee and other details will be indicated in the selection letters.
Choice of ISIT Campus
Students have to indicate their preference for the ISIT Campus in the Application Form at the time of submission of application.
