Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar, a premier center of Technical Education, was established in August, 1980 by the Prabandhak Committee, Gurudwara Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb, Bidar as per the Govt. of Karnataka Order No.ED 150 TEC 79, dated 8th August, 1980. At present College is being managed by Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb Foundation (Trust). Initially, the College was affiliated to Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. However, subsequently a separate Technical University Viz. Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, has been established during the academic year 1998-99 and since then this College has been affiliated to the said University. This College is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (N.B.A.), New Delhi. GNDEC started in the year 1980 with an annual intake of 120 in three traditional branches. Presently its intake is 570 in seven disciplines leading to B.E. Degree in :

POST GRADUATE COURSE:

Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) has been started during the academic year 2006-07 with an intake of 60 students.

ELIGIBILITY:

A Candidates who has passed the Second Year Pre-University or XII standard or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with at least one optional subject out of Chemistry/Bio Technology/Computer Science//Electronics/Information Science/Biology and with English as one of the languages of study and obtained at least 45% marks in aggregates (excluding marks of language) is eligible. Candidate desirous to take admission under minority, must be Sikh with turban and beared. He should also produce certificate to this effect. He should continue the studies by maintaining the same status.

GUIDLINES FOR OBTAINING ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE:

An Eligibility certificate is required to be obtained only by students who have qualified from Board/University other than Karnataka State.The students should bring with them the following original documents and three copies of the each.
Marks Statement of 10+2 or Equivalent Exams issued by the Concerned University/Board.
Transfer Certificate issued by the College from which the students passed his last examination.
Date of Birth (Matriculation Certificate)
Migration Certificate.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR MANAGEMENT SEATS:
SELECTION OF CANDIDATES AND ADMISSION:
All the applications received from the candidates seeking admission to 1st semester B.E. Degree Course will be sent to Selection Committee constituted by the Management. The selection of the candidate for various branches is solely on the merit basis decided as per government rules and shall be final. The decision of the Management Selection Committee as far as the selection of the candidate is concerned shall be final and binding on him/her. Principal will admit the students as per the selection list sent by the management after verification of the student eligibility to the course. College fee, Hostel and other charges given at para 17.2 & 17.3 are required to pay at the time of admission and are non-refundable. Admitted candidates will receive intimation directly at their address for correspondence to enable them to join the College well in time. They should produce all the original statements of marks etc. at the time of reporting to the College. The admission will be subject to approval of concerned University and Director of Technical Education, Bangalore. Admission is liable to be cancelled if it is found at any stage that the documents produced and information furnished in the application form for admission are false. Further, if any student wants to leave the College during the course of studies, he has to pay the fee compensation for the remaining years / period.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR GOVERNMENT SEATS:
Students desirous of getting admission in Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar, against Government seats have to qualify in common entrance test conducted by Govt. Of Karnataka and opt for Guru Nanak Dev Engg. College, Bidar at the time of counseling conducted by CET Cell, Govt. Of Karnataka, Sampige Road, 18th Cross, Malleshwaram, Bangalore-560003.
Those who are unable to get admission through above CET Cell can be considered for admission to this College against Management / Govt. Surrendered seats for which they have to follow the procedure given in 14.1 to 14.4 above. CODE OF CONDUCT:
>In general, students should behave in such a way so as to maintain high standards in the institution. Therefore, the following points are to be observed at all times :

Must strictly observe discipline in the College and Hostel premises.

Should behave courteously with the members of the staff.

Should not remain absent from the classes or examination without prior permission of the Principal.

Should not smoke in the college premises.

Should not consume liquor or indulge in abuse of drugs in the College or Hostel complex.

Should not indulge in anti-social, anti-national / communal and other activities, which are injurious to the discipline of the College.

Students should be properly dressed in the College. Male students - Pant, Shirt Tucked in & Girl Students - Salwar & Kameez with Dupatta.

Students coming to College in bathroom slippers, open shirts etc. are not allowed to attend the classes. Sikh students should wear Turbans. Half turban/patkas are not allowed.

Further, the students have no role to play in management policy matters relating to Administrative affairs. ATTENDANCE AND PROGRESS:
The College pays particular attention to attendance and progress of the students. Each class has a faculty in-charge for this purpose. No student should absent himself from the College without the permission of the Principal. It should be noted that the College is not under obligation to give attendance for the period of absence. Applying for leave of absence whenever un-avoidable, is an essential part of discipline.
The name of student absenting himself for more than a week without permission will be struck off from the College rolls. The student will have to pay re-admission fee, in case he is allowed to take re-admission. No attendance benefit for the intervening period will be given.
Student should be punctual in attending College and should not wander about during the class hours. Student must attend not less than 85% of the classes in each subject (practicals wherever applicable are treated as separate subjects) to be eligible to take the University examination. Tests and assignments are conducted periodically in all subjects to assess the progress and the student is expected to perform well. The College monitors the progress of students and intimates periodically to the Parents/Guradians regarding their performance in theory tests/laboratories and their attendance. DISCIPLINE:
Strict discipline to promote work culture among students and regularity in classes is essential in a professional college. It shall be the duty of the students to co-operate with the Staff & Principal during the stay in the College and devote their time to equip themselves with the technical knowledge and build up of character needed for the noble profession. Students should learn to become good citizens.
PUNISHMENT AWARDED BY THE AUTHORITIES FOR BREACH OF DISCIPLINE AND VIOLATION OF HOSTEL RULES IS BINDING ON THE STUDENTS. REGISTRATION AND ADMISSION:

Eligibility Criteria For Admission For B.E. The minimum qualification for admission for BE is: a. a pass in II PUc or 10+ higher secondary or equivalent qualifying examinination with a minimum aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ST). Profile of the President Dr.T.Thimmaiah Institute of Technology (Dr.TTIT) was started in the year 1986 at KGF by Dr. T. Profile of the Principal Dr.Syed Ariff obtained his Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Gulbarga University. Admission and Academic Features The course is open to the students who have passed II P.U.C / 12th std. or equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics along with chemistry / biotechnology / computer science / electronics as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study. Students should have obtained at least 35% Marks 40% incase of SC/ST & OBC in the subjects. Diploma 45% Students are eligible to join 3rd Semester directly through Common Entrance Test (CET) to the appropriate Engineering Courses. The seats are allotted on the basis of the CET conducted by the Government of Karnataka. Foreign nationals and NRI students are admitted, subject to regulations set by the Govt. of India. They must hold valid VISA and pay the fees prescribed by the Government. Management quota Seats are also allotted by CET cell for Karnataka & Non-Karnataka Students. There is no scope for students to change the branch once allotted. The fee structure for the students is as prescribed by the Government from time to time. The application forms and the prospectus can be obtained from the college office on payment of the prescribed fee. All courses are run as per the syllabi of VTU and are of eight semesters (4 Years) duration, each semester lasting 16 weeks. Examinations are held at the end of each semester. As per the University regulations, the internal assessment is based on tests, for theory, continuous evaluation for practical & other subjects. Attendance & Discipline As per the VTU norms, the students should have a minimum attendance of 85% in each subject. Students not satisfying this criterion are not permitted to take up the semester examination & they have to repeat the entire semester. There is a discipline committee, which monitors the student’s day-to-day behaviour. The students are required to behave in a responsible and dignified manner. Any unseemly behaviour is nipped in the bud. Smoking and taking intoxicating drinks, drugs are prohibited. Indulging in these undesirable habits will be severely dealt with, which could lead the students being expelled from the college. Ragging is totally prohibited. Anyone found indulging in the act would be dealt under IPC. Scholarships Meritorious students are offered scholarships from State Government as per norms. SC/ST students get aid from State Government as per norms and also in the form of books etc. Government of India scholarships, National Merit scholarship, Loan scholarship, Ex-service men scholarship, Scholarship from Jindal Group are also available for students. Performance and Results Students of the college have been performing creditably in all the University examinations. The final year results are consistently good (above 100% success) in all the branches, a few students being placed among the University ranks. Admission to Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) in Karnataka will be as per the government order 2008-09. Minimum requirements for admission to Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) in any stream are fulfillment of all the following requirements:

1. A pass in P.U.C in Karnataka or in any other State Boards or A Pass in XII Standard of CBSE or any other equivalent examination
2. An average of minimum of 45 % marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
3. Should have appeared for any one or more of the following Entrance Examination

The admission to B.E. COURSES in our institution will be made centrally at AMC Engineering College . The admission of the candidates belonging to the different categories will be made as under:


On the basis of the Common Entrance Test, COMED - K 2005 or CET-2005 and as per the merit of AIEEE score card.
The candidates who have appeared and selected by COMED - K 2005, CET-2005 & AIEEE are automatically considered for admission to B.E. COURSES. They are required to submit a separate application in a prescribed form to be procured from AMCEC.
For all categories, the basis of admission of 65% approved intake will be as per the CET-2005. The balance 35% of admission will be under Management Quota, who has to fulfill the eligibility criteria.

ADMISSION PROCEDURES
Admission to the college is made in accordance with the prescribed rules of Karnataka Government for all categories of candidates. CET Cell of Govt. of Karnataka makes the Government admission. Other Students are required to apply directly to the Principal of the College for Application.

Canara Engineering College, Bantwal

Canara Engineering College is the millennium project of the Canara High School Association. It is a Konkani Linguistic Minority Institution. There was an acute need for starting this Engineering College because there was no Engineering College belonging to Konkani Linguistic Minority.
The College was started in the year 2001 with 180 seats in 3 Branches of Engineering. Two more Engineering branches were added in the year 2004. At present it has 6 sections with 360 seats.

Karnataka Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association and Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association have set up 'COMEDK' to conduct a 'Common Admission Test' UGET-2008, that would facilitate determination of merit for admissions to Undergraduate courses offered by Medical, Dental and Engineering Colleges run by its members. The merit list will be used to select and admit candidates through centralized single window counselling for admissions to COMEDK member institutions for the academic year 2008-2009.
COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by central counseling (Single window system), the schedules for which will be notified in due course.

1.Eligibility Criteria
The minimum qualification for admission for BE is a pass in the 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent qualifying examination with a minimum aggregate of 45% in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with Biotechnology or Computer science or Biology or Electronics as optional subjects in place of chemistry, are eligible. English as one of the language of study is compulsory.

Eligibility under COMEDK-UGET
Applicants should have passed the 2nd P.U.C / 12 th std. or Equivalent qualifying Examination with a minimum aggregate of 45% with Physics Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) irrespective of marks secured in PCM subjects in the competitive Entrance test.
Eligibility under CET conducted by Govt of Karnataka
Applicants should have passed the 2nd P.U.C / 12 th std. or Equivalent Exam with a minimum of 45% in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Electronics/Information Science /Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study and has obtained at least 45% marks in the optional subjects is eligible for engineering and technology courses. Eligibility criteria for Diploma Holders
Diploma Holders in engineering with a minimum of 50% marks in the final examination, conducted by the Board of Technical Examination, Government of Karnataka or its equivalent, are eligible for admission to the corresponding branch of engineering. They will have to appear for the CET conducted by the CET Cell , Govt of Karnataka, Seats will be allotted by the CET at centralized counseling to be held at Bangalore

Canara Engineering College is a 'Konkani Linguistic Minority Institution'. 45% (162 seats) of the seats in BE degree course will be filled by the Government of Karnataka through Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by CET Cell of the Govt. of Karnataka. and 35% (126 seats) of seats will be filled by COMEDK under 'Konkani Quota' and remaining 20% (72 seats) of seats will be filled by Management for NRI and others, as per orders passed by the Government of Karnataka. If seats remain unfilled under ‘Konkani quota’ in COMEDK these seats will be placed under general category.

Application for Management Seats
Applications must be made only in the prescribed format attached to prospectus. Applicants are requested to read the prospectus carefully before filling up the application. Application is a key part of the admission process. Complete and accurate answers to the point are therefore extremely essential. Incomplete or false information will adversely affect the chances of selection. Completed application form should reach the Association office at Mangalore on or before the last date as may be notified.

Registration/Counseling for Management Quota:
Selections will be made in accordance with the Government regulations prevailing at the time of admission.
Completed applications with a Registration fee of Rs. 350/- by demand draft in favour of Canara Engineering College, payable at Mangalore only and should reach CHS Association by 26 June 2008, along with the necessary documents.
Following scrutiny of application form, prospective candidates will be invited for a personal counseling, during which parents / legal guardians are to be present. Successful candidates will have to get themselves admitted immediately. Those who are granted provisional selection will have to remit the first years' tuition fees in advance at the time of admission. An letter of counseling will be sent to the candidate informing the order of merit, date of counseling and fees details to be paid at the time of admission.
The seats will be allotted strictly in accordance with the order of the merit i.e Ranking received in COMEDK UGET-2008 and CET - 2008.Mere calling for the seat allotment does not confer a right on the student for allotment of a seat, which is subject to availability in any given category.

The fees structure for all the seats will be as per the direction of the Government of Karnataka amended from time to time and prevalent at the date of admission.

Discipline
The Institute aims at maintaining very high standard of discipline in the campus. Ragging is strictly prohibited. Students and parents are requested to take note of this, as any act of indiscipline will be dealt with severely. If a student's attendance falls below 85% and academic performance is found not upto the standard, they he / she will be detained from appearing for the examination. Students are expected to be properly dressed and are required to be courteous in their interaction with staff members. Identity card must be carried by the students at all times and must be presented for inspection on demand by authorized persons. The students are permitted to meet only authorized visitors and guardians. Visitors are allowed only during prescribed visiting hours. No unauthorized visitors will be entertained by the students in the hostel. Breach of discipline and failure to abide by the rules and regulations of the Institution and hostel will render the student liable for disciplinary action

Admission to the first year of the course are open to students, who have passed either of the following examinations:
