The city has an excellent infrastructure in terms of number of Industries, R&D Institutions and other Software Development facilities. Thus Bangalore city is an ideal place for training of technical manpower of high quality. With this in view, the JSS Mahavidyapeetha has set up JSS Academy of Technical Education in the year 1997 imparting engineering education at under Graduate level affiliated Visveswaraiah Technological University (VTU) and recognised by AICTE, New Delhi. The Management of JSSATE, Bangalore can draw on the experience it has gained in turning SJCE, Mysore to be one of the premier institutions of the country.
Title of the Programme:
The programme shall be called Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.)
3.2 Eligibility for Admission:
The candidate should have passed two year PUC examination conducted by the Pre-University education board of Karnataka or any other examination considered equivalent by VTU with physics, chemistry and mathematics as optionals. Candidate fulfilling the above requirement should have also obtained minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in science subjects (physics, chemistry and mathematics) of qualifying examination subject to the condition that he/she has obtained minimum passing marks in each subject. However, the minimum applicable to SC/ST and Group A is 40% marks. A candidate who is a Diploma holder in the relevant branch of engineering having obtained not less than 50% in the final examination leading to said Diploma is also eligible. In respect of Diploma holders other than the one issued by the Board of Technical Education, Karnataka, the candidate should obtain certificates of equivalence from the Board of Technical Education, Karnataka.
3.3 Duration of the Programme:
The BE degree programme is spread over eight semesters (Four academic years) in the college affiliated to VTU.

3.5 Attendance:
A candidate shall under go the prescribed course of study in the college affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University for the purpose. Each semester is considered as a unit and a student shall put in minimum of 75% of attendance in each of the subject of theory, practical and drawing A candidate obtaining 75% of attendance in the aggregate shall be permitted to take the semester examination, provided, he/she has obtained a minimum of 60% attendance in each subject. A candidate having less than 60% of attendance in each subject shall have to repeat the whole semester and such candidates shall not be permitted to take admission to the next semester. Such cases of shortage of attendance, shall be reported to the University immediately after the closure of the term and well before the commencement of Examinations, either theory or practical whichever is earlier. In some special cases if a candidate gets less than 75% in aggregate but not less than 65% of attendance in the semester, permission may be accorded by the Vice-Chancellor considering the attendance shortage to the extent of 1O% on specific recommendation of the Principal of the college, subject to the payment of penalty fee as prescribed by the University. In all cases, the basis for the calculation of the attendance shall be the period prescribed by the University by its calendar of events or in some exceptional cases from the date of admission to the course on CET allotment, only for First Semester. The student shall be informed about the attendance position periodically by the college so that the student shall be cautioned to make up the shortage.
3.6 Hours of Instruction:

3.7 Scheme of Examination:
The course consists of eight semesters spread over four years. The syllabus and examination of first two semesters are common to all disciplines. The project work at eighth semester and implanned training commencing from fifth semester also form part of the assesment. For full details refer syllabus copy supplied at the time of admission.
3.8 Internal Assessment:
Each subject of theory as well as practical shall have maximum Internal assessment marks of 25. The Internal assessment marks in a theory paper shall be based on two tests normally at the end of 8th week and 12th week of each semester. The test shall be answered in "Blue Books" with pages serially numbered. These blue books shall be kept in the custody of the Principal of the College till one month from the date of announcement of the result by the University. These shall be made available for verification to any of the official of the University visiting the college. A provision shall be made for an additional test to be conducted at the end of the semester to give an opportunity to the candidates to improve Internal assessment marks. Average of the marks obtained from any best two tests shall be chosen for the award of Internal assessment marks. If a candidate remains absent for all the tests conducted, the Internal assessment marks shall be marked as 'A' against the name/University seat number of the candidate in the marks sheet submitted to the University. In the case of practicals, the internal assessment marks shall be based on the drawing/laboratory reports etc., as the case may be, and work done in respective classes and laboratories. The Internal assessment marks for Engineering Graphics shall be based on the performance in the tests similar to theory subjects except for the difference that there shall be drawing sheets instead of blue books. The Internal Assessment marks in the case of project work shall be based on the evaluation of the project work at the end of the VIII semester by a committee consisting of Head of the concerned department, the guide of the project work and a senior teacher of the department. The IA marks sheets of project work shall bear the signature of all these concerned. The Internal assessment marks awarded to the students in theory as well as practicals shall be displayed on the notice boards of the colleges at least one week prior to the commencement of the theory/practical examination, which ever is earlier, and a certified copy incorporating corrections if any, shall be sent to the University examination section. The IA marks sheet shall bear signature by the concerned teacher on each page. If the subject is handled by more than one teacher, the IA marks sheet shall bear the signature of all concerned teachers on every page. The Head of department and Principal shall affix their signature on the last page. Any correction or over writing of Internal assessment marks, shall bear the signature of concerned teacher(s) and Head of the Department. If a candidate fails to secure a minimum of 50% of marks (12 out of 25) in Internal assessment of practicals, 50% of marks in project work, he/she shall not be eligible to take that particular practical examination. Such candidates shall repeat the laboratory work/project work during the subsequent semester and secure the minimum required marks. However, the candidate shall register their names in their college for repeating the work within 15 days from the date of the announcement of results. The list of such candidates, if any, shall be sent to the University for approval indicating the subject, semester, etc., within 30 days from the announcement of results. For theory subjects there shall not be minimum requirement of IA marks. After the submission of Internal Assessment marks to the University, any requests for change of IA marks shall not be considered under any circumstances. Internal Assessment marks sheet shall reach the University well before the commencement of theory/practical examinations, and the Principal shall be responsible for any delay.
3.9 Eligibility for Passing:
For a pass in a subject, a candidate shall secure a minimum of 35% of the marks prescribed for a subject in the University examination (Theory, Drawing) and 40% of the marks prescribed for a practical, project work, viva voce etc., in the University examination and 40% of marks in the aggregate inclusive of the internal assessment marks, both for theory and practical, project work, viva voce. The candidates who does not satisfy the condition shall be deemed to have failed and have to reappear for the University examination in the subsequent examination. However, there shall be no change in the internal assessment marks awarded to the candidates. The candidate who does not get the prescribed passing marks in all the subjects of a semester but passes in one or more subjects with 40% or more marks, are exempted from appearing for those subjects. If a candidate so desires, there shall be provision for rejection of his/her results, only once during the entire course of 8 semesters. Such candidate shall reject all the subjects of the semester (which is being rejected) irrespective whether he/she has passed or failed in any subject, and he/she shall not be allowed to reject any individual subject. Subsequent to the rejection of the results, the candidate shall seek readmission at odd semester only. However the permission may be accorded by the Vice-Chancellor for readmission to even semester in specific cases, subject to the recommendation by the Principal. Such candidates who opt for rejection at final year are eligible for award of class and distinction at the BE degree level, but are not eligible for award of ranks. Application for such rejection shall be sent to the Registrar (Evaluation) through the Principal of the college within thirty days from the date of announcement of results. A candidate shall be declared to have completed the course of BE degree provided he/she has undergone the training in all 8 semesters.

Spread over a sprawling 48 acres of greenery and natural surrounding the unpolluted location provides for the right atmosphere to enable the learning process. The campus has all the basic amenities. ADMISSION AND ELEGIBILITY
1.Admission for the First Year of the B.E. Course shall be open to the students who have passed the two-year Pre-University examination (science) conducted by the Karnataka state Pre-University Board. Or
10+2 the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as optional subjects and English as a subject of study. Or
Those who have passed any other examinations recognized by the University as equivalent hereto
2.The candidates shall secure a minimum of 35% of marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of second year Pre-University Examination or at the end of 12th year public examination.
3.The B.Sc graduates are also considered for admission to the first year course if they have secured a minimum of 35% marks in the aggregate of subjects.
(I) Physics, Mathematics and Electronics. Or
(II) Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science
4. The three years Diploma degree in appropriate branch of Engineering granted (awarded) by the Board of Technical Education Government of Karnataka or any other Diploma qualification considered equivalent to thereby the VTU, with 35% of the total maximum marks in the final examination of the Diploma course are eligible for the First Year of B.E course (under Management quota) in appropriate branch. They can also get through the CET to second year BE course directly in appropriate branch
5.The candidates belonging to the Scheduled caste and Scheduled tribes and any other groups classified by the Government of Karnataka for such purpose from time to time shall be considered eligible for the admission if they have passed the qualifying examination.
6.The candidates other than those, who have passed the examination of Pre-University examination Board, Engineering Diploma Examinations of the Board of Technical Education Karnataka and B.Sc degree examinations from any Universities of the Karnataka state have to obtain eligibility certificate for seeking admission to B.E degree course from VTU Belgaum or from the concerned engineering college of Karnataka state. The University will notify dates for the issue of eligibility certificates from time to time.

Eligibility Conditions for admission:
Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the four years B. E degree Course should have passed the two years of P.U.C Examinations ( with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as Optional Subjects) conducted by the Pre - University Board Of Karnataka State or any Other Examination recognized as equivalent by the Visweswaraiah Technological University and should have obtained not less than 45% of marks in the optional subjects.
Candidates seeking admission to First Year of the Four Year B. E Degree Course must have passed the three year Diploma Course of the Board of Technical Examination of Karnataka Government in the respective branches / courses or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the Visweswaraiah Technological University and must have obtained less than 50% marks in the final diploma Examinations.
In case of Candidates belonging to SC/ST & Category I (Karnataka Students Only), the minimum percentage of marks shall not be less than 40% in the optional subjects as per rules.
Admission will be according to reservation policy of the State Government.
How to apply?
Candidates desirous of applying for HMS Institute of Technology and HMS Institute of PG courses (MCA) under management quota should pay in cash an amount of Rs.300/- (if by post Rs.350/- through D.D./I.P.O/M.O) being the cost of prospectus and application to the principal, H.M.S Institute of Technology, Shetttyhalli Road. Tumkur - 572 102, Karnataka before the last date fixed for admission by the State Government & Universities, based on entrance test and filling up of seats by the CET Cell.

The HKBK Group of Institutions began with the aim of providing educational opportunities to the deserving and under-privileged. Its first step towards the goal of imparting quality education was HKBK College of Engineering. The Karnataka State Muslim Federation (KSMF) helped establish this Engineering College in 1997 under the leadership of C.M. Ibrahim, former Union Minister. KSMF is a prominent state-level organization which addresses the concerns and issues of the minorities in the state. With an active presence in all districts of Karnataka, KSMF recognized the need to provide opportunities for technical education to the under-privileged. Thus HKBK College of Engineering was born. Following this, KSMF expanded its foray in the educational sphere by establishing HKBK Business Academy and HKBK Degree College for undergraduate courses. Under the banner of HKBK, these colleges seek to provide students with a strong foundation of education and life skills. The HKBK Group of Institutions is named after the 12 th Century Chishti Saint, Hazrat Khwaja Khuthubuddin Bakhtiar Kaki. Chishtiya, an order of Sufism, celebrates the principles of tolerance and services to mankind among others. Reflecting these principles, the HKBK Group of Institutions aims to educate young minds and deserving people in the hope of a better tomorrow for themselves and humanity at large.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to 1st Sem B.E. /B.Tech. / B.Arch. With reference to the Govt. Notification No.ED 10 TEC 2006, Bangalore dated 28th February, 2006 it is hereby notified to all the Principals of Engineering Colleges affiliated to VTU that the guidelines specified below shall be followed for admitting candidates to I year B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. courses. Annexure – II Certified that Mr. / Ms. ________________________________________ is eligible for seeking admission to _____________ branch of B.E. / B.Tech. and B.Arch. Course of this Visvesvaraya Technological University on the basis of passing the ___________________ Course. The candidate should produce all original documents of Marks Cards etc. at the time of admission. In case of discrepancies, if any, with respect to eligibility criteria, this certificate stands cancelled. This certificate is issued subject to the final approval by the Visvesvaraya Technological University , Belgaum Annexure – III The candidate should produce all original documents of a. Marks Cards b. Valid Pass Port c. Student Visa d. NOC from the concerned Ministry of Government of India e. AIDS FREE medical Certificate issued by the District Hospital , f. NOC from the concerned Embessys. at the time of admission. In case of discrepancies, if any, with respect to eligibility criteria, this certificate stands cancelled.
