President's Message
I have experienced during my three decades of stay in Germany that the Indian mind is second to none in the world and can take on any challenge in technological and engineering field in the contemporary world. The Challenges are there for socio-economic upliftment of the Indian masses, defense requirements of the country, exploration of nature on Earth and in space and creation of new resources of energy etc. I am convinced that these and other challenges can be met through propagation of world-class quality education in Engineering and Technology in Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET).
I have set for myself a target to provide total education to my students, from primary to higher / professional education in all areas like engineering and technology, law, business management etc., through the institutions of foundation so that my students, AMITIANS, may excel in their profession, and achieve their goals and have a joyful and contented life. this would lead to serving the nation and the humanity.
In our country, we have immense talent. All that is required is to guide and bring out the best of it through quality and need-based education. This I have planned through the institutions of RBEF. Thus the paramount importance is to create international bridges by blending the advanced knowledge and modern technological tools of the West with the Indian traditional values, culture and heritage of the East.
This aim cannot be achieved without support and guidance of all those whose help the ASET Team has been seeking and would be seeking.

Vivekanand Education Society's Institute of Technology (VESIT) is one of Mumbai's premier engineering colleges and has been imparting high quality education to its students for the past TWENTY FIVE YEARS.Education, according to Swami Vivekanand, is "that process by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, and intellect is sharpened, as a result of which one can stand on one's own feet." And these very words are the foundation upon which VESIT is built. We enjoy our reputation of producing highly-skilled and well-rounded personalities and would want you to be a part of this tradition

Vidyalankar Institute Of Technology,

Origin and history of the promoting body
The Man with the Vision
The founder, Prof. C.S. Deshpande had a dazzling educational career. In 1950, he secured the top rank in the Inter Science Examination of the Pune University standing first in every subject, creating a record in Mathematics and Grand Total and winning all the Prizes and Scholarships of the University. (The 2nd rank student was behind him by as many as 70 marks i.e. by 10%).Further, the solitary scholarship of the then Govt. of Bombay State for the highest marks among all the 4 universities in the state (Mumbai, Pune, Gujarat and Karnataka) was awarded to him and was continued up to the end of his education.
On the conclusion of his B.E. degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Govt. College of Engineering Pune, the Principal of his college recommended him to the leading scientist, Dr. Homi J. Bhabha through a special personal letter. Accordingly he was appointed as a research scholar in the famous T.I.F.R in 1954.
In the next year (1955) he appeared for the 'Indian Engineering Services' (IES) examination of the U.P.S.C. and secured the 1st rank in that All India Competitive Exam too. Consequently he joined the I.R.S.E. in 1957.
However, his academic mind did not find satisfaction in that administrative work and in just a couple of years, he decided to quit that coveted Class I Gazetted Service in favour of an academic career. Ultimately, in 1959, he did take the highly unconventional decision of walking out of the secure and prestigious Class I officer's service to dedicate himself wholeheartedly to the pursuit of academics. He started by teaching his first batch of students in a rented school class room at Dadar. That was the modest beginning of Vidyalankar.
Thus the basic objective of starting an academic institution was to satisfy the inner urge of guiding eager young minds of engineering students with a missionary zeal and imbibing in the receptive minds of the students nobler values of life, thereby enhancing their worthiness.
With the founder's vision and his dedicated efforts Vidyalankar has grown steadily. Vidyalankar consolidated its commitment by establishing 3 colleges, viz.

V.J.T. I ( Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute ) H.R. Mahajani Marg,MUMBAI

About the Institute
The Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute was given its present title on January 26, 1997. Founded in 1887, it was then known as Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute.
The institute is reputed for excellent training in courses in engineering and technology at diploma and, degree and post graduate levels over three thousand students. Over twenty seven courses are offered at the undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, postgraduate diploma and post diploma levels.
The institute was granted financial and academic autonomy from June 21, 2004. As a result, the autonomous VJTI has implemented the revised syllabus for the students in June 2004 at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels by implementing much valued credit system. The revised scheme of examinations, which follows a grading system and letter grade point system has been implemented. An important part of curriculum is the practically oriented project at the final year of graduation and the dissertations offered by the postgraduate students, as also the in-plant training undergone by the Third Year Diploma students.
Significant changes under autonomy are the setting up of Distance Education Programmes with IIT with VJTI as a Remote Centre; as also the modernization of the Library to a digital library. Mention must be made that postgraduate students may see the journals online throughout the week, with facility for printing.
Under the World Bank grant - TEQIP - the institute has several projects underway to establish itself as a world class technological institute. The modernization will offer excellent central computing facilities to students, who will also have access to improved laboratory and workshop facilities. The faculty at the institute is recognized for its Testing and Consultancy work. Realizing the potential of the institute, reputed industries have sponsored laboratories - for instance, the high voltage laboratory, courtesy Siemens; and the Computational Fluid Dynamics laboratory, courtesy B.A.R.C.
Several students activities such as gymkhana, social day and intra/inter collegiate programmes and the college magazine "Nirmaan" serve as a platform to enhance students personality. The institute has also started its own newsletter from January 2005.
Individual students profiles through departmental brochures are centrally positioned with the "Training and Placement" office of the institute. The office competently liaises with over hundred companies and successfully places students for employment and in-plant training through campus recruitement programmes.

Thakur College of Engineering & Technology (TCET), Mumbai

The Thakur College of Engineering & Technology (TCET) was established in 2001 with a clear objective of providing quality technical education in tune with international standards and contemporary global requirements. The College is recognized by the AICTE & Govt. of Maharashtra and is affiliated to the University of Mumbai.
The management’s commitment to excellence is reflected in the marvelous infrastructure that is comparable to the finest institution of its type in the country. The imposing five storied building housing state-of-the-art computer laboratories, spacious classrooms, well designed electronics & applied science laboratories, a well-stocked library, wide well lit & clean corridors, a large canteen and a gymkhana has set new standards in providing facilities at an international level to our engineering students. The sprawling campus with lawns, gardens, playgrounds, parking lot and a temple ensures a right academic ambience essential for a center of higher education.
At TCET, the importance of faculty is well understood which is reflected in qualified and experienced teaching staff in all departments. A closely monitored quality assurance mechanism ensures proper coverage of syllabus within a right time frame. Additional coaching in comparatively difficult topics in various subjects and group mentoring are some of the healthy practices followed at TCET.
Application of modern technology in the teaching-learning process and day-to-day governance of the College makes TCET unique. The e-Governance campus management software running in an RF-networked environment supported by dedicated 128 Kbps broadband internet connectivity makes TCET one of the few totally digitalized campuses across the nation. Within 4 years of its existence, TCET has carved out a niche for itself as one of the leading engineering colleges under the University of Mumbai.
