'The Institute of Management', previously know as Nirma Institute of Management, is a constituent of the distinguished Nirma University of Science and Technology. The Institute was established in 1996 with a view to promote excellence in management education and to prepare young men & women to meet the challenges of the developing corporate world.In a short span of less than a decade, the Institute has emerged as an excellent business school. Having ranked amongst the top 10 Business Schools established Post 1990 (Outlook, September 2003), the institute is well equipped to bring out the best managers for the nation. The Institute is located on the outskirts of Ahmedabad City, about 5 Kms from the New Gujarat High Court, 25 Kms from the Railway Station/Air-port and about 20 Kms from the Income Tax Circle, Ashram Road.The Institute currently offers the following programmes :
Master of Business Administration (Full-Time) Master of Business Administration (Part Time) Master of Business Administration (Family Business and Entrepreneurship) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Executive Diploma Programmes in Management, and Executive Education Programmes A constituent of Nirma University, the Institute of Management is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2 (F) of UGC Act. Hence, all the Post-graduate degree of the Institute is recognized as equivalent to the Post-graduate degree of any other Indian university. Similarly, the Institute’s Ph.D. degree is also recognized as equivalent to Ph.D. of any other Indian University.
Academic Programmes
Master of Business Administration (MBA) Full Time
This is a two year full-time, residential programme of the Institute. This programme aims to mould future managers – the business architects who would contribute to the corporate world through their impeccable service and leadership. The programme offers specialization in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, Operations Management and Information Technology. The students graduating from this programme are awarded the MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) Part Time
Designed for executives in and around Ahmedabad, this programme facilitates the working people upgrade themselves to the latest managerial practices. The programme offers specialization in Marketing, Finance, International Business, Information Technology and Human Resource Management. The students graduating from this programme are awarded the Master of Business Administration (Part Time) degree.
Master of Business Administration (Family Business and Entrepreneurship)
This is a two year full-time, residential programme in management education. A programme aims to develop future owners-managers and equip them with modern management knowledge and skills, family business management techniques and an entrepreneurship approach.
Doctor of Philosophy Programme (Ph. D.)
In its quest to promote excellence in Management Education, the Institute launched the Doctoral Programme in Management (formerly known as the Fellow Programme in Management) in July 1999. The primary objective of this programme is to prepare young men and women for challenging opportunities in teaching, research and consulting. The students graduating from this programme are awarded the Ph. D. degree. Participants of this Doctoral Programme are provided with a monthly stipend.
Executive Diploma Programmes
The Institute offers unique Executive Diploma programmes, spread over 30 Sundays, in three areas of Human Resource Management, Finance, Marketing and International Business. These programmes aim at fulfilling the professional needs of working executives, managers and entrepreneurs. They provide the participants with an opportunity of formal learning at their convenient time schedule for enhancing their knowledge and skills in their respective areas of specialization.
Doctor of Philosophy Programme (Ph. D.) (External )
The programme aims to provide an opportunity to researchers, teachers and industry professionals to excel their career in teaching, research and consultancy. The Programme is designed specially for working professionals while continuing in their jobs.
MBA (Full Time) » Admission Details
Number of Seats Available : 120Fifteen percent of the intake is likely to be allocated for admissions to Person of Indian Origin (PIO)/Foreign Nationals and Non Resident Indians (NRIs). Of this about one-third i.e., 5% is reserverd for Children of Indian workers of Gulf countries and South East Asia.
Eligibility A three-year bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or its equivalent in any discipline from a statutory university with atleast 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing in the final examination of a bachelor’s degree can also apply

Selection Process
The selection procedure for admission consists of two steps :Written Test Applicants for the full-time programme are required to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs which will be held on 16th November 2008.Group Discussion and Personal Interview Candidates short-listed on the basis of their performance in the written test will be called for group discussion and personal interview. The group discussion/personal interview will be held at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, and New Delhi. The final selection to the programme would be based on the candidate’s performance in the written test, group discussion, personal interview and work experience.The following weightage will be given for each component of the selection criteria : Written Test : 70% Personal Interview : 20% Group Discussion : 10%An additional score upto 10 points for work experience will also be given for full-time work experience at managerial level in a professional organization.
