The HKBK Group of Institutions began with the aim of providing educational opportunities to the deserving and under-privileged. Its first step towards the goal of imparting quality education was HKBK College of Engineering. The Karnataka State Muslim Federation (KSMF) helped establish this Engineering College in 1997 under the leadership of C.M. Ibrahim, former Union Minister. KSMF is a prominent state-level organization which addresses the concerns and issues of the minorities in the state. With an active presence in all districts of Karnataka, KSMF recognized the need to provide opportunities for technical education to the under-privileged. Thus HKBK College of Engineering was born. Following this, KSMF expanded its foray in the educational sphere by establishing HKBK Business Academy and HKBK Degree College for undergraduate courses. Under the banner of HKBK, these colleges seek to provide students with a strong foundation of education and life skills. The HKBK Group of Institutions is named after the 12 th Century Chishti Saint, Hazrat Khwaja Khuthubuddin Bakhtiar Kaki. Chishtiya, an order of Sufism, celebrates the principles of tolerance and services to mankind among others. Eligibility Criteria for Admission to 1st Sem B.E. /B.Tech. / B.Arch. Courses & List of Recognised equivalent courses – reg… . With reference to the Govt. Notification No.ED 10 TEC 2006, Bangalore dated 28th February, 2006 it is hereby notified to all the Principals of Engineering Colleges affiliated to VTU that the guidelines specified below shall be followed for admitting candidates to I year B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. courses. 1. Extract of the Academic Eligibility from the above Govt. order is enclosed for compliance. (Complete Govt. Order may obtained from website www.vtu.ac.in) 2. Pursuant to Executive Council Resolution no. 3 of 13th June 2005, 12 years of schooling (10+2) / Boards / Universities/ in India or abroad as listed in the enclosed Annexure-I are recognized as equivalent to Second year P.U.C. of Karnataka P.U.E. Board, Bangalore for admission to first year degree course in Engineering and Architecture. However, this is subject to satisfying eligibility requirements as laid down from time to time by the State Govt. and University. The candidates who have passed from Boards other than the list have to compulsorily obtain clearance from Association Indian Universities, New Delhi . The eligible candidates (other than the students of P.U.E. Board, and C.B.S.E. exam passed in Karnataka /Diploma holders of Karnataka) seeking admission to the first year Engineering and Architecture course should obtain the eligibility certificate, from the concerned college. Further the Principals of Engineering colleges are authorized to issue provisional eligibility certificates to the candidates after collecting the fees as prescribed below. Eligibility Fees: S.No. Category Fees 1 Non- Karnataka & SAARC Country Candidates Rs.1,500/- 2 Foreign (Recognized by AIU) Rs.7,500/- The amount so collected along with list of students admitted to the course, as per format as given in Annexure- II and III should be sent to the undersigned, within 10 days from the date of issue of provisional eligibility certificate along with attested Xerox copies of documents on which eligibility certificate is issued (Attested Xerox statements of marks, valid passport, valid visa, AIDS free medical certificates and clearance from Government of India, in case of foreigner). A copy of the eligibility certificate attested by the principal should be endorsed to the undersigned. In case of any doubt or ambiguity, the Principals are requested to refer the individual case to the University for Clarification. It is also brought to the notice of the Principals that in case of improper admission, the Principal is wholly responsible and provisional admission made shall be withdrawn by the University. Therefore, the Principals are advised to take utmost care while issuing eligibility certificates, so as to avoid cancellation of admission and litigation later on. Format of Eligibility certificate is enclosed for reference. The Principals of Engineering colleges are requested to bring the contents of this notification to the notice of all the concerned, and also display it prominently on the notice board during the admission of students. Any fee payable to the University should be in the form of D.D. in favour of “Finance Officer, VTU, Belgaum ” and payable at Belgaum . Annexure – II : PROVISIONAL ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE : (Indian Nationals Only) Certified that Mr. / Ms. ________________________________________ is eligible for seeking admission to _____________ branch of B.E. / B.Tech. and B.Arch. Course of this Visvesvaraya Technological University on the basis of passing the ___________________ Course. The candidate should produce all original documents of Marks Cards etc. at the time of admission. In case of discrepancies, if any, with respect to eligibility criteria, this certificate stands cancelled. This certificate is issued subject to the final approval by the Visvesvaraya Technological University , Belgaum This certificate is valid for the academic year 2006-2007 only.
