National Power Training Institute (NPTI) Admission 2008

Why You Should Join
The main aim of the course is to develop a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Indian Power Sector. Besides, the course shall enhance the knowledge and skills of the engineers sponsored by the State Electricity Boards, Power Utilities etc.
About The Course: This course is of one year duration (2 semesters) and the course profile covers the mandatory requirements under Indian Electricity Amendment Rules, 1981, which stipulates "No person shall be authorised to operate or undertake maintenance of any part or whole of generating station of capacity 100 MW and above together with the associated sub-station unless he is adequately qualified and has undergone the specified training at a recognised Institute".

Eligibility: 3 (Three) Years Diploma Holders or equivalent in Mechnical/Electrical/ Instrumentation Engineering from a recognized Technical Board with minimum of 60% marks. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC is applicable as per Goverment, norms.
Selection Criteria For Admission: Merit based on Diploma marks.
Age Limit: For non-sponsored candidates the age limit as on 30.09.2008 is 27 years. No age limit for the sponsored candidate.

Total Seats: 50 (Fifty seats)(Provisional). Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically challenged as per Goverment, of India Norms for Non-sponsored candidates. 25% seats are reserved for candidates sponsored from Power utilities having more than one year experience and more than 65% marks in Diploma.

Placement: To provide career opportunities in the Indian Power Sector, NPTI shall maintain close linkages with Power Utilities and reputed companies for employment of these trained Diploma engineers.

Most of the students of previous batches were placed decently in reputed Power sector companies.NPTI will not make any efforts for placement of SPONSORED Candidates.
How to Apply: Applications on plain paper along with the demand draft of Rs.400/- taken on or after the date of Advt. in Employment News in favour of NPTI payable at Neyveli should reach Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (SR), Neyveli 607803 on or before 22.09.2008 with two passport size photographs in the prescribed format attached/enclosed.

Course Fee: For non-sponsored candidates: Rs.60,000/- (in two installments). For candidates sponsored from SEBs/ PSUs/ Private Utilities Rs.1,00,000/-lump-sum at the time of admission. There is no fee concession for any category of candidates.
The cost of Transportation to industries/power stations is to be borne by the participants.
Lodging/Boarding:Hostel Facilities is provided on first come first served basis, subject to availability on nominal charges. Separate hostel for girl candidates.
