Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, BIDAR

Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar, a premier center of Technical Education, was established in August, 1980 by the Prabandhak Committee, Gurudwara Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb, Bidar as per the Govt. of Karnataka Order No.ED 150 TEC 79, dated 8th August, 1980. At present College is being managed by Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb Foundation (Trust). Initially, the College was affiliated to Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. However, subsequently a separate Technical University Viz. Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, has been established during the academic year 1998-99 and since then this College has been affiliated to the said University. This College is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (N.B.A.), New Delhi. GNDEC started in the year 1980 with an annual intake of 120 in three traditional branches. Presently its intake is 570 in seven disciplines leading to B.E. Degree in :

POST GRADUATE COURSE:

Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) has been started during the academic year 2006-07 with an intake of 60 students.

ELIGIBILITY:

A Candidates who has passed the Second Year Pre-University or XII standard or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with at least one optional subject out of Chemistry/Bio Technology/Computer Science//Electronics/Information Science/Biology and with English as one of the languages of study and obtained at least 45% marks in aggregates (excluding marks of language) is eligible. Candidate desirous to take admission under minority, must be Sikh with turban and beared. He should also produce certificate to this effect. He should continue the studies by maintaining the same status.

APPLICATION FORM FOR ADMISSION:

Application form alongwith Prospectus can be obtained from the College Office on payment of Rs.700/-(Rupees Seven hundred only) per form on any working day,The application forms can also be obtained by post by remitting an amount of Rs.700/-(Rupees Seven hundred only) by Demand Draft in favour of'PRINCIPLE,GURU NANAK DEV ENGINEERING COLLEGE,BIDAR'.Completed application form to be forwarded to 'PRINCIPLE, GURU NANAK DEV ENGINEERING COLLEGE, MAILOOR ROAD, BIDAR - 585 403 (Karnataka). Incomplete application form shall be rejected.

GUIDLINES FOR OBTAINING ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE:

An Eligibility certificate is required to be obtained only by students who have qualified from Board/University other than Karnataka State.The students should bring with them the following original documents and three copies of the each.
Marks Statement of 10+2 or Equivalent Exams issued by the Concerned University/Board.
Transfer Certificate issued by the College from which the students passed his last examination.
Date of Birth (Matriculation Certificate)
Migration Certificate.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR MANAGEMENT SEATS:
SELECTION OF CANDIDATES AND ADMISSION:
All the applications received from the candidates seeking admission to 1st semester B.E. Degree Course will be sent to Selection Committee constituted by the Management. The selection of the candidate for various branches is solely on the merit basis decided as per government rules and shall be final. The decision of the Management Selection Committee as far as the selection of the candidate is concerned shall be final and binding on him/her. Principal will admit the students as per the selection list sent by the management after verification of the student eligibility to the course. College fee, Hostel and other charges given at para 17.2 & 17.3 are required to pay at the time of admission and are non-refundable. Admitted candidates will receive intimation directly at their address for correspondence to enable them to join the College well in time. They should produce all the original statements of marks etc. at the time of reporting to the College. The admission will be subject to approval of concerned University and Director of Technical Education, Bangalore. Admission is liable to be cancelled if it is found at any stage that the documents produced and information furnished in the application form for admission are false. Further, if any student wants to leave the College during the course of studies, he has to pay the fee compensation for the remaining years / period.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR GOVERNMENT SEATS:
Students desirous of getting admission in Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar, against Government seats have to qualify in common entrance test conducted by Govt. Of Karnataka and opt for Guru Nanak Dev Engg. College, Bidar at the time of counseling conducted by CET Cell, Govt. Of Karnataka, Sampige Road, 18th Cross, Malleshwaram, Bangalore-560003.
Those who are unable to get admission through above CET Cell can be considered for admission to this College against Management / Govt. Surrendered seats for which they have to follow the procedure given in 14.1 to 14.4 above.
CODE OF CONDUCT:
>In general, students should behave in such a way so as to maintain high standards in the institution. Therefore, the following points are to be observed at all times :
  • Must strictly observe discipline in the College and Hostel premises.
  • Should behave courteously with the members of the staff.
  • Should not remain absent from the classes or examination without prior permission of the Principal.
  • Should not smoke in the college premises.
  • Should not consume liquor or indulge in abuse of drugs in the College or Hostel complex.
  • Should not indulge in anti-social, anti-national / communal and other activities, which are injurious to the discipline of the College.
  • Students should be properly dressed in the College. Male students - Pant, Shirt Tucked in & Girl Students - Salwar & Kameez with Dupatta.
  • Students coming to College in bathroom slippers, open shirts etc. are not allowed to attend the classes. Sikh students should wear Turbans. Half turban/patkas are not allowed.
  • Further, the students have no role to play in management policy matters relating to Administrative affairs.
    ATTENDANCE AND PROGRESS:
    The College pays particular attention to attendance and progress of the students. Each class has a faculty in-charge for this purpose. No student should absent himself from the College without the permission of the Principal. It should be noted that the College is not under obligation to give attendance for the period of absence. Applying for leave of absence whenever un-avoidable, is an essential part of discipline.
    The name of student absenting himself for more than a week without permission will be struck off from the College rolls. The student will have to pay re-admission fee, in case he is allowed to take re-admission. No attendance benefit for the intervening period will be given.
    Student should be punctual in attending College and should not wander about during the class hours. Student must attend not less than 85% of the classes in each subject (practicals wherever applicable are treated as separate subjects) to be eligible to take the University examination. Tests and assignments are conducted periodically in all subjects to assess the progress and the student is expected to perform well. The College monitors the progress of students and intimates periodically to the Parents/Guradians regarding their performance in theory tests/laboratories and their attendance.
    DISCIPLINE:
    Strict discipline to promote work culture among students and regularity in classes is essential in a professional college. It shall be the duty of the students to co-operate with the Staff & Principal during the stay in the College and devote their time to equip themselves with the technical knowledge and build up of character needed for the noble profession. Students should learn to become good citizens.
    PUNISHMENT AWARDED BY THE AUTHORITIES FOR BREACH OF DISCIPLINE AND VIOLATION OF HOSTEL RULES IS BINDING ON THE STUDENTS.
    REGISTRATION AND ADMISSION:
    Registration for admission starts by 15th of March of every year.
