MANSAS, AN ABODE OF INTEGRATED LEARNING
To recall Emersonian axiom, an Institution is the length and shadow of a great man. The man was Dr. Pusapati Vijayaram Gajapathi Raju, (Dr. P.V.G) The Raja Saheb of Vizianagaram,and the institute is "Maharaj Alak Narayan Society of Arts & Sciences", popularly known as MANSAS, created by him on 12 th November, 1958 in the hallowed memory of his noble father. Dr. P.V.G.Raju was born on 2nd may 1924, at the Pool Bagh Palace in Vizianagaram. He was the eldest son of Maharaja Alak Narayana Gajapathi & Maharani Vidyavathi Devi. He believed in virtual obedience & was grown as prince amidst democratic socialists and a democratic socialist amidst princess. As a true socialist, he translated its lasting principles into actual practice. he always strived for the human cause and never flinched to sacrifice anything to attain it. As a part of his cherishment of establishing a Tribal University besides Engineering and Medical Colleges to make Vizianagaram, an epicenter of education, he elevated MANSAS to harbour 12 institutions imparting education in varying disciplines such as sciences, humanities, Education, Law, management etc. leveling from KG to P.G.

After the demise of Raja Saheb, his sons Sri. Pusapati Anand Gajapathi Raju, Chairman, MANSAS, eminent educationist and former Minister of Education and Health, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, and Sri. Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Vice Chairman MANSAS, Former Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, have been making efforts to realize the cherished dreams of their noble father by flowering MANSAS in to a Deemed University. As such the tree of MANSAS offshooted its another branch Maharaj Vijayaram Gajapathi Raj College of Engineering on 3rd November, 1997.

Under the able guidance of Dr.P.Anand Gajapathi Raju(Chairman), Ex-Minster for Education & Health Govt. of A.P. and Sri. P.Ashok Gajapthi Raju(Vice-Chairman), Former Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Govt. of A.P. respectively. The Institute is making its strides towards realizing its objective of contributing to the nation the value-based technocrats through imparting education on pragmatic and ethical standpoint. The institute is refurbishing infrastructurally & instructionally with an orientation towards providing the students an opportunity to reach the world class academic standards as it is equipped with highly sophisticated state-of-the-art laboratories for all the existing courses. It has got accommodated its library in a spacious 12000 sft area with a holding of 24,025 volumes to tune of 60 lakhs besides 96 national & international journals/periodicals both technical & non-technical. A building of worth 40 lakhs is dedicated to the student activiy center that encompasses communication center.
The Institute is situated amidst lush green fields with a serene skyline at Vijayaram Nagar, Chintalavalasa, 5 km away from Vizianagaram Town. Vizianagaram is famous for its rich cultural heritage. the ancestral Fort which was once a symbol of sovereignty of Pusapatis now transformed into the citadel of Education & an abode of monumental MANSAS Trust that houses 13 educational institutions ranging from primary to post graduation in versatile disciplines like engineering, management, law, arts & sciences.
