BE Program
Admission to Vacant Seats in B.E. 2008 through Institutional Counseling at BIT Mesra, BIT Patna and BIT Deoghar
Few seats in the B.E. program, under state quota for various states, are vacant at BIT Mesra, BIT Patna and BIT Deoghar after the first round of Central Counselling and admissions through Form 1 and Form 2.
The vacant seats are to be filled through Institutional Counselling, Selection for each State and category / sub-category will be strictly based on All India Rank in AIEEE 2008 from among those candidates who have been declared eligible for Central Counselling and also fulfill the other eligibility criteria of the Institute, including age and marks in Class 10 & Class 12.
Interested candidates should see notification on our website for details of vacancies, eligibility criteria, prescribed form, and how to apply. Candidates must submit separate application forms If they wish to apply for more than one Place of Study.
Eligible candidates must submit each completed application in prescribed form along with attested photocopies of all relevant certificates and documents and crossed Demand Draft for Rs.1,000 in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi / Patna / Deoghar, during working hours by 18 August 2008 at the Centre of their choice - Mesra / Patna / Deoghar only - or send same by courier / Speedpost to reach Mesra / Patna / Deoghar by 18 August 2008.

Caste certificates must be in proper format and signed by appropriate authority of rank not less than SDO.
Merit list and provisional selection list will be notified on or before 23 August 2008 only on our website and Notice Boards at BIT Mesra, BIT Patna and BIT Deoghar. No separate intimations will be sent to candidates.
Provisionally selected candidates will be required to take admission by 30 August 2008, failing which their provisional offers will be cancelled and given to the eligible candidates who are next in merit.

MBA Program
Admission to MBA Program - 2008, Based On CAT-2007
Applications are invited for admission to full-time MBA Program 2008 - 2010 at Mesra, and our Extension Centres at Lalpur, Noida and Jaipur. Please see our website for detailed notification and addresses of Centres.
Eligibility:
(A) Candidates must have appeared in CAT 2007. They must hold a recognized Bachelor's degree (minimum 10+2+3) in any discipline, with 60 % (50 % for SC/ST) marks in Honours / aggregate of all subjects, they must also have passed in all subjects in Class 10 and Class 12 (excluding optional subjects) with minimum of 60% (50 % for SC/ST) marks in Class 10 (average of all subjects, excluding optional subjects) and Class 12 (average of best 5 subjects, excluding optional subjects).
Candidates graduating in 2008 can also apply, provided they can submit marksheets by 31 Oct 2008. Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes are eligible only if they acquired such qualifications as working professionals / while in employment.
(B) Candidates must have Verbal Percentile Score at least 40 (25 for SC/ST) and Total Percentile Score at least 40 (25 for SC/ST) in CAT-2007.
Selection Procedure: Provisional selections will be based on Total Percentile Scores in CAT-2007 of candidates who have applied and fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned above, due consideration being given to choice(s) of Place of Study.
If seats remain vacant at any Centre, there may be subsequent notification(s) on our website. No separate intimations will be sent to candidates.
How to Apply: The MBA 2008 Application Material and General Information Brochure can be obtained from all our Centres at the addresses given on our website(a) In person from 12 Feb 2008 to 21 April 2008 on payment of Rs.1,200/-and (b) By post on payment of Rs.1,300/-(All payments by crossed DD in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi).
Postal requests must be received by 15 April 2008, and must include covering letter & two slips of paper (10x10 cm) with name, address in capitals and phone number.

Fill the printed form supplied with MBA 2008 Application Material, and send with enclosures (photographs, photocopies of certificates) to reach office of Dean Admissions, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi 835215, by 30 April 2008, OR,
Fill In the online application form on our website, and send printout with 2 photographs, crossed DD for Rs.1,200/-I as above and photocopies of certificates by 30 April 2008, at the same address.
Important dates for online applications: The link for filling the online form will be active from 9 am on 09 Feb 2008 and will be closed at 4 pm on 21 April 2008.
The Institute will use CAT-2007 for short-listing candidates for its full-time MBA program. The IIM's have no role in the selection process or in the conduct of the program.

B.Pharm & BHMCT Program
Admission for B.Pharm & BHMCT-2008
Applications are invited for admission to the 4-year (8-semester) Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology and B. Pharmacy programmes at Mesra: For details see our website.
Eligibility Criteria: Maximum age limit is 21 years on 01.10.2008, (26 years for SC/ST).
For B.Pharm: Pass in all subjects* in Class 10 with minimum 60% (50% for SC/ST). Pass in ail subjects* in Class 12 / equivalent Qualifying Examination (QE) with English, Phys, Chem, and Math/Biology/Biotech, and minimum 60% (50% for SC/ST).
Further, candidates must have appeared in AIEEE-2008 or AIPMT MAIN - 2008. General category / OP candidates from AIEEE group must have AIR upto 1,00,000. All candidates who possess the AIPMT MAIN - 2008 rank card may apply.
Marks in Class 10 to be considered as sum of all subjects*, and in Class 12 for best 5 subjects including English, Phys, Chem, and Math/Biology/Biotech ('excluding optional subjects).
For BHMCT: Pass in all subjects* in Class 10 and Class 12/QE in any stream, with minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST) in both Class 10 and Class 12. Marks in Class 10 to be considered as sum of all subjects*, and in Class 12 for best 5 subjects* ('excluding optional subjects).

Selection Procedure:
For B. Pharm: Based on All India Rank in AIEEE - 2008 or AIPMT MAIN - 2008 and subsequent Counseling at Mesra.
For BHMCT: Entrance Test on 13 July 2008 at Kolkata, Mesra, Noida, and Patna, and subsequent Interviews at Mesra.
Candidates appearing for Class 12/QE in 2008 can also apply. They must produce marksheet of QE at the time of Counseling, along with other documents.
How to Apply:
Information Brochure B of 2008 and form will be available on payment of Rs.800/- in person, and Rs.900/- by post from our Centres(all payments by crossed DD in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi).

M.Sc. at Mesra, Jaipur, Kolkata and Lalpur.
Applications are invited for admission to the following Postgraduate Programs of the Institute:
1. M.E. in Automated Manufacturing Systems, Civil, Computer Aided Analysis & Design, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Polymer, Quality Engineering & Management, Software Engineering, Space Engineering & Rocketry, at Mesra.
2. M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, at Mesra.
3. M.Sc. in Bio-Medical Instrumentation, Information Science at Mesra, M.Sc in Geo-lnformatics at Jaipur, Kolkata and Mesra, M.Sc in Bio-Informatics at Kolkata and Mesra, M.Sc in Information Technology at Lalpur (for girls only).

Selection Procedure:
Provisional selections to the M.E, M. Pharm, M.Tech and MUP programs will be on basis of score in GATE 2007/ GATE 2008, academic record and/or written test (wherever applicable) and interviews. Non-GATE candidates may also apply. Their candidature will be considered after GATE applicants have been considered and interviewed.
Provisional selections to the M.Sc. programmes will be on the basis of performance in an online Entrance Test, and counselling. Candidates appearing for final examinations in 2008 can also apply. Provisionally selected candidates will be required to produce proof of passing their qualifying examination with requisite marks by 31 Oct 2008, failing which their provisional admission will be cancelled. Schedules for tests & interviews/counselling for various programmes will be notified only on our website.
Application Form:
The PG 2008 Application Material with application form and Information Brochure 2008 will be available across the counter from all our Centres on payment by crossed DD of Rs.1,000/- drawn in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi.
To receive the same by post, send crossed DD for Rs.1,100/- with two slips of paper (10 x 10 cm) with name and address in capitals and telephone number, and letter mentioning the course applied for. Write PG 2008 on the envelope.
How to Apply:
Candidates should obtain our Information Brochure 2008 and Postgraduate Application Material 2008 giving details of the eligibility criteria, number of seats, fee structure, reservations, and containing the prescribed application form. The same may be obtained in person from the Accounts Office at Mesra or from any of our Extension Centres during working hours on all working days, from 4 April 2008 up to 9 May 2008, on payment by crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 1,000/- in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi.
To obtain the Information Brochure 2008 and Postgraduate Application Material 2008 by post, send a crossed demand draft for Rs. 1,100/- in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi, along with a covering letter mentioning the course applied for, and two slips of paper (of size 10 x 10 cm) with your name and address clearly written in block capitals, and telephone number, to Dean Admissions at Mesra or Director of any of our Extension Centres. Write PG - 2008 on the envelope. Postal requests must be received by 5 May 2008.
To apply for any of the programmes, eligible candidates must send the completed application with enclosures to office of the Dean Admissions positively by 15 May 2008.

You may use one application form to apply for only one programme – M.E. or M. Pharm or M. Tech or MUP or M.Sc. and only one discipline within that programme – for example only M.E. in Electrical or M. Tech in Computer Science or M.Sc. in Bioinformatics. However, one application form can be used to apply for various specializations within some M.E. programmes and within the M. Pharm programme. In the case of M.Sc. programmes in Bioinformatics and Geoinformatics, you may also use one application form to apply for different Places for Study, in order of preference. Please use separate application form(s) to apply for two (or more) programme(s). Applications made on photocopies of forms are not acceptable.
Candidates appearing for final examinations in 2008 can also apply, and if selected can join the programme provisionally. Provisionally selected candidates will be required to produce proof of passing their qualifying examinations with requisite minimum marks by 31 October 2008, failing which the provisional admission will be cancelled.
