Admission to B.Sc. Nursing Course (for Trained Nurses) for 2008 – 2009 Session)
Applications are invited for admission to B.Sc., (Nursing) Degree Course for Trained (Diploma) Nurses 2008-2009 Session in Government College of Nursing, Madras Medical College, Chennai - 3 and Self-Financing Colleges in the State of Tamil Nadu.
Issue of Aplication Forms with Prospectes:
The application form with Prospectus will be issued from the College of Nursing Madras Medical College, Chennai-3 and Madurai Medical College, Madurai on all working days from 19-08-2008 to 27-08-2008, 3.00 P.M.
The Candidates /Authorised persons should give a written requisition to the Dean of the above Government Medical Institutions requesting for application forms with Prospectus for the course enclosing a crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of "The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10", towards the cost of application forms and Prospectus.
The Demand Draft should have been issued by any one of the Nationnalised Banks Only and dated not earlier than 18-08-2008 and should be payable at Chennai.
Cost of Application:
B.Sc.(Nursing) Course for Trained Nurses.- Rs.350/-
S.C/S.T candidates are exempted from payment of cost of applications and Prospectus and they can obtain the application on written requisition duly enclosing the attested Xerox copy of the Community Certificate.

Eligibillity:- The candidate should be a Citizen of India and Native of Tamil Nadu.
Age Limit: The Candidates should not have completed the age of 40 years as on 31st December 2008.
Qualification:
Candidates belonging to all categories should have obtained aggregate of 50% of marks in the Diploma in Nursing Examinations and with a pass in HSC with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or) Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology (or) Nursing Vocational subject with Foundation Science and Physics/Chemistry, (or) Candidates who belong to all categories must have obtained not less than 50% of marks in aggregate in HSC (with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry Botany and Zoology (or) Nursing Vocational Subject and Foundation Science and Physics/Chemistry) and with a pass in three year Diploma in Nursing Course.
Candidates who have passed any other Qualifying Examination other than the HSC (Academic) Examination should submit the eligibility Certificate obtained from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai before admission.

Certificate Course in Diabetology
Admission to Six Months Certificate Course in Diabetology August – 2008 Session
Applications are invited from citizens of India who are native of Tamil Nadu for admission to six months certificate course in Diabetology to be conducted by Distance Education Method:
(1) Colleges where course is to be conducted:

100 Students will be admitted to the Course in each college per session as per guidelines of the Directorate of Medical Education.
(2) Course duration:
The Course is by distance education method and is of six months duration with two days contact classes in the respective Colleges every month.
Certificate for the course will be issued after passing a final evaluation examination at the end of six months.
(3) Eligibility for Admission:
Candidates with M.B.B.S Degree are eligible to undergo the course.
(4) Application for the Course:

Candidates applying under Special Category should fill up the Common Application Form prescribed for General Category and the application form prescribed for Special Category which can be obtained on payment of Rs.100/- in the form of Demand Draft.
Candidates applying under Special Category should submit the application with relevant documents. Without required documents, the claim will not be considered under any circumstances. S.C / S.T candidates need not enclose Demand Draft.
5. Age Limit:
The candidates should have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December 2008.
6. Qualification:
Candidates should have passed H.Sc. (Academic Examination conducted by the State Board or any other equivalent examination in the First appearance.
B.Pharm : All categories other than SC/ST:Individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology or Mathematics both in Theory and Practical with a minimum of 35% marks and with not less than 50% aggregate marks in the above subjects is mandatory.
For SC / ST: Individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology or Mathematics both in Theory and Practical with a minimum of 35% of marks and with not less than 40% aggregate marks in the above subjects A pass in English with a minimum of 35% marks is mandatory. (ii) B.Sc. (Nursing)
For OC candidates: Individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology (both Theory and Practical) and English with a minimum of 35% marks in each of above subject and with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology and English".
For BC/BCC/BCM/MBC/DC/SC/ST Candidates : Individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology (both Theory and Practical) and English with a minimum of 35% marks in each of above subject and with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology and English". (iii) B.P.T. / B.O.T.
All Categories: Individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology both Theory and Practical with a minimum of 35% of marks in each of the above subjects is mandatory.
English: A Pass in English with a minimum of 35% marks is mandatory.
7. D.Pharm candidates seeking admission under Lateral Entry Scheme:
Candidates belonging to all communities should have an aggregate of 50% of marks in the Part I (First Year) and Part ll(Second Year) in D.Pharm Examinations with a pass in HSC with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics.(or)Candidates belonging to all communities must have obtained not less than 50% of marks in aggregate in HSC with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics with a pass in two year D.Pharm Course.
The candidates who have passed the Diploma in Pharmacy course should submit the provisional certificate for having passed the Diploma Examination and should have completed 500/750 hours of practical training at the time of applying for the B.Pharm Course. The Diploma candidates will be admitted into Second year B.Pharm course directly under Lateral Entry Scheme (for further details the prospectus may be referred).
Candidates of Tamil Nadu origin who have studied in Diploma in Pharmacy in other State have to produce Eligibility Certificate from Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University, Chennai -32.
8. Candidates who have passed HSC course in Vocational Stream are not eligible to apply.

Admission To 3 Years Higher Speciality Courses (Dm & Mch) in Tamil Nadu Government Medical Colleges For 2008 - 2009 Session
1. Candidates aged more than 50 years as on 30.6.2008 are not eligible to apply.
Candidates of Tamil Nadu Nativity by domiciliary status and other State candidates who studied their MBBS and Post Graduate Courses in Tamil Nadu Medical Colleges who claim only Tamil Nadu Nativity and not the nativity in any other state alone are eligible to apply.
Candidates who have undergone a Higher Speciality degree in any discipline and Candidates who have joined any Higher Speciality Course and discontinued after the cut off date are not eligible to apply within two years from the date of discontinuation of the course.
4) Only Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission selected candidates from Tamil Nadu Medical Services who have completed three years of continuous satisfactory service as on 30.06.2008 will be considered under the seats earmarked for service candidate category. Other candidates will be considered under open category.

in person with a Crossed Demand Draft for RS.1000/- (Rupees One thousand only) drawn in favour of the Secretary, Selection Committee, Chennai - 600 010 from any branch of a Nationalised Bank, payable at Chennai and should not be dated earlier than 20.04.2008. Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates are exempted from payment of fees for the application forms subject to production of an attested Xerox copy of community certificate.
2. Candidate should be a citizen of India and a native of Tamil Nadu.
3. The candidates who have joined M.Pharm / M.Sc.(N) / M.P.T. courses in any other discipline and discontinued the course on any grounds are eligible to apply only after a period of two years from the date of discontinuance of the course.
4. Candidates who have graduated from other Universities have to produce the eligibility Certificate from the Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University at the time of counselling, failing which they will not be considered for selection.
5. Age : Applicants should not have exceeded 50 years of age as on 01.05.2008.
6. Service candidates who have not completed three years of continuous Service as on 01.05.2008 are not eligible to apply.
