Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering (CRCE), New Bombay

OVERVIEW

Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering (CRCE) was established in 1984 as part of Fr. Agnel Technical Complex at Bandra, Mumbai by the Society of St. Xavier Pilar and is named after its founder late Rev. Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues.
The college is affiliated to University of Mumbai.
The college has acquired a good reputation for its academic standards.

From the year 1997, the DTE of Maharashtra has instituted a scheme of grading all the engineering colleges in Maharashtra states. This grading is based on the academic standards, faculty and infra-structural facilities for the institution. Our college has been graded consistently as 'A' from the inception.
The impressive public image of the college is reflected in the preference shown by the students seeking admission during the centralized admission process conducted by DTE.
The placement record also shows the confidence of the corporates in the academic standard of the college. Starting from the frist batch, our students are being recruited by reputed organizations. The feedback from recruiting companies has been ectremely encouraging.

The college offers Bachelor Degree courses in Production Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering and Information Technology. College also offers full-time Masters Degree courses in Production Engineering (Robotics), Electronics Engineering and part-time Production Engineering (Manufacturing).

Centralized Admission Process (CAP)
Admission against seats available with the Competent Authority for Centralized Admission Process (i.e. 65% of Intake Maharashtra State Quota and 15% All India Quota- AIEEE) will be filled as per the rules prescribed by the Govt of Maharashtra and candidates have to apply to the Competent Authority.

b) Vacant Seats:

After the last day prescribed for reporting of the candidate to whom seats are allotted in this college through the Centralized Admission Process, the seats remaining vacant will be filled by the institute as per the Rules prescribed by the Government of Maharashtra for 2008-09.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:

Institute Level Seats and Vacant Seats:
Elegibility criteria for F.E. admission at Institute level for Institute level seats and vacant seats is as prescribed by Government of Maharashtra, Higher and Technical Eduction Department and as given in the Rules and Institute Information Brochure for the Academic Year 2008-09.


1. Institute Level Seats (MHT-CET Basis) :
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed HSC (Std. XII) Examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education or from CBSE, ICSE Examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from Maharashtra and secure minimum 50% marks out of 300 marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
And
Obtained non-zero score in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at MHT-CET 2008.
2. Vacant Seats:
Vacant Seats after the Centralised Admission Process will be filled by the Institute as per the Guidelines given in the "Rules and Institute Information Brouchure for Academic year 2008-09".
SELECTION PROCEDURE and ADMISSION PROCESS:


1) All admissions will be made on the basis of inter-se merit of candidates who have applied for admission to the First Year Engineering 2008-09 in this Institute.
2) Separate applications, in the prescribed form, should be made for each of the following categories:
a) Institutional Seat
b) Vacant Seats
Candidates applying against category (a) above will however be considered for admission against Vacant seats (b) and need not apply again.
i) Applications should reach the Principal within the time prescribed.
ii) A separate merit list will be prepared for each category and the same will be displayed together with the Schedule of Admission on the College Notice Board and the College website.
iii) For categories (a) & (b), the criteria for determining inter-se merit is : total marks obtained (out of 200 marks) in the subjects Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the MHT-CET 2008 examination.
iv) In case of a tie, the relative merit will be decided on the basis of the following, in the order given below :

Note : While converting, if the marks out of 750 works out to be a fraction, only two decimal places will be considered

1) Candidates called for scrutiny of application shall report at the prescribed time and date with all necessary documents specified, together with the prescribed fees.

2) After scrutiny of the Original documents, once the candidate is offered a seat on the basis of merit as above, he will be required to pay the prescribed fees, failing which, the offer stands cancelled.

3) If a candidate reports late, he / she will be considered only for the seats subsequently available.

4) The candidate to whom admission is offered shall submit the Original documents as prescribed, which will be retained by the Institute. A candidate admitted to this institute cannot withdraw the original certificates unless the admission is cancelled. On cancellation of admission the original documents will be returned within a day and refund of fees will be as per rules.

REFUND OF FEES :

In case of cancellation of admission, refund rules will be as per rules prescribed by the Government of Maharashtra, Higher & Technical Education Department and given in the Rules and Institute Information Brochure for the Academic Year 2008-09.

DISCIPLINE :
All candidates who have applied for admission shall be deemed to have submitted the following undertaking :
I have read the Rules of Admission and after understanding these rules thoroughly, I have filled in the application form for admission for the current year.
a) I have not been debarred from appearing at any examination held by any Government constituted or Statutory examination authority of India.
b) I am aware that any rule imposed by the University such as imposing limits on the number of attempts permissible to pass any examination shall be binding on me.
c) I hereby agree to conform to any Rules, Acts and Laws enforced by the Government and I hereby undertake that, I will do nothing either inside or outside the college which may result in disciplinary action against me under these rules, acts and laws referred to.
d) I fully understand that the Principal of the college where I would be admitted, has a right to expel me from the college for any infringement of the rules of conduct and discipline prescribed by the college or University or Government and the undertaking given above.
e) Condition of minimum attendance : I am fully aware that, I will not be allowed to appear for the examination if I do not attend minimum 75% classes of theory, practicals, drawing etc. I am also aware that I will not be allowed to appear for the examination, if I fail to submit satisfactorily all the assignments, jobs, journals, drawings, reports as specified by the University within stipulated time limit.

NOTIFICATION IN NEWSPAPER :
The seats to be filled at the institutional level and the vacancies after the CAP rounds will be notified in the Times of India or Indian Express Mumbai edition and details may also be obtained from the institute's website.




ACTION AGAINST RAGGING



Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act 1999 which

is in effect from 15th May 1999 has the following

provisions for Action against Ragging



a) Ragging within or outside of any educational institution is prohibited.

b) Whosoever directly or indirectly commits, practices in, abets or propagates ragging within or outside any educational institution shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term upto 2 years and / or penalty which may extend to ten thousand rupees.

c) Any student convicted of an offense or ragging shall be dismissed from the educational institution and such student shall not be admitted in any other educational institution for a period of five years from the date of order of such dismissal.

d) Whenever any student or, as the case may be, the parent or guardian or a teacher of an educational institution complaints, in writing, of ragging to the head of the educational institution, the head of the educational institution shall without prejudice to the foregoing provisions, within seven days of the receipt of the complaint, enquire into the matter mentioned in the complaint and if, prima facie, it is found true, suspend the student who is accused of the offence and shall immediately forward the complaint to the police station having jurisdiction over the area in which the institution is situated, for further action. Where, on enquiry by the head of the educational institution, it is found that there is no substance, prima facie, in the complaint received, he / she shall intimate the fact, in writing, to the complainant. The decision of the head of the educational institution shall be final.

e) If the head of the educational institution fails or neglects to act in the manner specified in section “d” above when a complaint of ragging is made, such person shall be deemed to have abetted the offence and shall, on conviction, be punished as provided for in Section “b” above.



f) All candidates are hereby informed that ragging of any kind is not permitted. Ragging is an offense punishable by law and any form of ragging will be taken very seriously.



g) Strict disciplinary action will be taken against any one indulging in any form of ragging.



h) If any candidate has any complaint of ragging or if any candidate is aware of others being ragged, it should be brought to the notice of the Management.
