Canara Engineering College, Bantwal

Canara Engineering College is the millennium project of the Canara High School Association. It is a Konkani Linguistic Minority Institution. There was an acute need for starting this Engineering College because there was no Engineering College belonging to Konkani Linguistic Minority.
The College was started in the year 2001 with 180 seats in 3 Branches of Engineering. Two more Engineering branches were added in the year 2004. At present it has 6 sections with 360 seats.

Karnataka Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association and Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association have set up 'COMEDK' to conduct a 'Common Admission Test' UGET-2008, that would facilitate determination of merit for admissions to Undergraduate courses offered by Medical, Dental and Engineering Colleges run by its members. The merit list will be used to select and admit candidates through centralized single window counselling for admissions to COMEDK member institutions for the academic year 2008-2009.
COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by central counseling (Single window system), the schedules for which will be notified in due course.

1.Eligibility Criteria
The minimum qualification for admission for BE is a pass in the 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent qualifying examination with a minimum aggregate of 45% in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with Biotechnology or Computer science or Biology or Electronics as optional subjects in place of chemistry, are eligible. English as one of the language of study is compulsory.
Should have appeared for entrance examination conducted by the Karnataka CET or COMEDK-UGET-2008
Eligibility under COMEDK-UGET
Applicants should have passed the 2nd P.U.C / 12 th std. or Equivalent qualifying Examination with a minimum aggregate of 45% with Physics Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) irrespective of marks secured in PCM subjects in the competitive Entrance test.
Eligibility under CET conducted by Govt of Karnataka
Applicants should have passed the 2nd P.U.C / 12 th std. or Equivalent Exam with a minimum of 45% in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Electronics/Information Science /Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study and has obtained at least 45% marks in the optional subjects is eligible for engineering and technology courses. Eligibility criteria for Konkani Linguistic Quota (* subject to Karnataka Government notification / High Court orders)
A pass in PUC examination of Karnataka with a minimum of 45% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or its approved equivalent.
The students applying for Konkani Minority seat should have appeared for the COMEDK - UGET – 2007
All the Konkani Linguistic Minority students are eligible to claim seats under this quota, The seats will be allotted by COMEDK at the centralized counseling to be held at Bangalore as per merit. and on production of original documents issued by the competent authorities to the satisfaction of COMEDK authorities, failing which such a candidate will be considered only under General Merit (for details visit www.comedk.org)
Eligibility criteria for Diploma Holders
Diploma Holders in engineering with a minimum of 50% marks in the final examination, conducted by the Board of Technical Examination, Government of Karnataka or its equivalent, are eligible for admission to the corresponding branch of engineering. They will have to appear for the CET conducted by the CET Cell , Govt of Karnataka, Seats will be allotted by the CET at centralized counseling to be held at Bangalore
Allotment & distribution of seats subject to Govt. of Karnataka notifications/Amendments/High Court, Supreme Court orders
Canara Engineering College is a 'Konkani Linguistic Minority Institution'. 45% (162 seats) of the seats in BE degree course will be filled by the Government of Karnataka through Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by CET Cell of the Govt. of Karnataka. and 35% (126 seats) of seats will be filled by COMEDK under 'Konkani Quota' and remaining 20% (72 seats) of seats will be filled by Management for NRI and others, as per orders passed by the Government of Karnataka. If seats remain unfilled under ‘Konkani quota’ in COMEDK these seats will be placed under general category.

Application for Management Seats
Applications must be made only in the prescribed format attached to prospectus. Applicants are requested to read the prospectus carefully before filling up the application. Application is a key part of the admission process. Complete and accurate answers to the point are therefore extremely essential. Incomplete or false information will adversely affect the chances of selection. Completed application form should reach the Association office at Mangalore on or before the last date as may be notified.
Applications are issued at the office of Canara High School Association on payment of Rs.100/-

Registration/Counseling for Management Quota:
Selections will be made in accordance with the Government regulations prevailing at the time of admission.
Completed applications with a Registration fee of Rs. 350/- by demand draft in favour of Canara Engineering College, payable at Mangalore only and should reach CHS Association by 26 June 2008, along with the necessary documents.
Following scrutiny of application form, prospective candidates will be invited for a personal counseling, during which parents / legal guardians are to be present. Successful candidates will have to get themselves admitted immediately. Those who are granted provisional selection will have to remit the first years' tuition fees in advance at the time of admission. An letter of counseling will be sent to the candidate informing the order of merit, date of counseling and fees details to be paid at the time of admission.
The seats will be allotted strictly in accordance with the order of the merit i.e Ranking received in COMEDK UGET-2008 and CET - 2008.Mere calling for the seat allotment does not confer a right on the student for allotment of a seat, which is subject to availability in any given category.
Fee Structure
The fees structure for all the seats will be as per the direction of the Government of Karnataka amended from time to time and prevalent at the date of admission.
Detailed fee structure can be had from the College Office on request, after the Government of Karnataka notify the same.
No Donation or Capitation Fee is Charged from anyone
The selected students have to submit all the documents mentioned here below in original along with the 04 photocopies of the same
Original marks card of Second PUC or equivalent.
Transfer certificate from the Principal of the Institution last attended.
Conduct certificate from the Principal of the Institution last attended.
Proof of the Date of Birth –SSLC pass certificate
Photographs : Passport size : 6 Nos., Stamp size : 6 Nos.
Medical certificate with blood group mentioned.
Proof of COMEDK UGET 2006 / CET 2006 Ranking.
Eligibility certificate in case of Non-Karnataka Students
Transfer certificate issued by the Institution last studied.
Seven years study certificate attested by the concerned authorities
Candidates belonging to SC/ST should produce a caste/income certificate issued by the competent authority with an affidavit on a Rs.15/- stamp paper signed by the parent or guardian (in case the parents are not alive) and who produce the affidavit from the Guardian , death certificates of both the parents should be attached.

Admission of foreign nationals are allowed subject to fulfilment of :
Eligibility requirements of the University;
No objection certificate from the Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India;
Valid Passport and Student Visa for the period of study in the Institution AIDS free certificate.
Note: Non-Karnataka Students will have to apply for Migration Certificate and produce the same at the time of admission
Discipline
The Institute aims at maintaining very high standard of discipline in the campus. Ragging is strictly prohibited. Students and parents are requested to take note of this, as any act of indiscipline will be dealt with severely. If a student's attendance falls below 85% and academic performance is found not upto the standard, they he / she will be detained from appearing for the examination. Students are expected to be properly dressed and are required to be courteous in their interaction with staff members. Identity card must be carried by the students at all times and must be presented for inspection on demand by authorized persons. The students are permitted to meet only authorized visitors and guardians. Visitors are allowed only during prescribed visiting hours. No unauthorized visitors will be entertained by the students in the hostel. Breach of discipline and failure to abide by the rules and regulations of the Institution and hostel will render the student liable for disciplinary action

1.The Management reserves the right of admission and allotment of the branch.
2.Once the candidate is admitted to the course, request for refund of fees will not be entertained.
